Scope: Business Aviation vs. Airline Aviation


Avi-Go is optimised specifically for business aviation — business jets and related operations. Airline and civil aviation metrics may appear in certain contexts, but they follow different definitions and are not the primary scope.


Core Definitions


Flight / Leg

One aircraft movement from a single origin airport to a destination airport. Each takeoff-landing pair = one leg.


Based Aircraft

An aircraft whose operational "home" is associated with a given airport, based on observed patterns and/or available operator/registry context. May not reflect legal base of registration.


Parked Aircraft

An aircraft detected on the ground at an airport during a specific time window. Does not necessarily imply it is based there.


Operator

The entity responsible for operational control of an aircraft. May differ from the registered owner. Attribution may vary by region and data availability.


Empty Leg

A repositioning sector or commercial availability window offered when an aircraft is flying without a paying passenger load. Availability and pricing vary by operator and market.


AOC / Part 135 / Part NCC

Regulatory certifications for commercial air operations in different regions (IATA/ICAO, US FAA, EASA respectively). These determine what commercial activity an operator can legally conduct.


Data Realities — Setting Correct Expectations


⚠ Known Limitations:  Some aircraft are enrolled in privacy or blocking programmes — their movements may be partially or fully obscured.

Operator attribution can vary by region and may not always reflect current operational status.

Historical records may be revised as late-arriving signals are reconciled after the fact.

Data latency varies — live signals are as current as possible, but some feeds carry inherent delays.
